Calton Gold is born! The very first kegs arrived at Edinburgh’s famous Pear Tree House around midday and the first pint was poured less than an hour later to much celebration. And then the second…and a third…and many, many more throughout a perfect day of sunshine and Andy Murray winning a brilliant Wimbledon semi-final.
George Fyvie, the Peartree’s manager, referred to the first days sales as “brilliant”, with three-quarters of what was meant to be a week’s supply selling out in one day. Extra stock is winging its way to you George!
It certainly seems to have gone down well with the locals, as we hoped a proper East Lothian beer would, and also with the many tourists and graduation parties who joined us for a cold glass in the sunshine.
